Experience Rajasthan through the stories of our family. Rajputana Legacy is not just a collection of places — it’s a journey into the heart of Marwar. Our heritage homestay, desert retreat, authentic cuisine, and commitment to supporting local artisans invite you to be part of something meaningful.
We are descendants of Rao Udai Singh Ji Devraj of Setrawa. As one of the first families to move from our ancestral village to establish a home in Jodhpur, we carry with us the values of service, resilience, and hospitality. Durag Niwas, our family’s homestay, was created to offer a warm welcome to travelers and be of service to those in need.
Our legacy began with Capt. Durag Singh Rathore (Retired RPS), the first officer to be promoted to the Indian Army from the state forces (Jodhpur Lancers). After his service at Border Security Force (BSF), our father, Surendra Singh Rathore, returned home and, with the support of our grandmother, Dev Kumari Ji, established Durag Niwas in 1991. Today, under the care of Govind Singh Rathore and Mukta Kumari, we continue to celebrate the spirit of Rajasthan.
Whether you’re exploring the desert at Dev Bagh, learning traditional recipes with Rajputana Gastronomy, or connecting with women artisans through Jodhpur Artisans, we invite you to be part of our story.
Rajputana Legacy is our family’s way of keeping heritage alive through kindness, culture, and connection. It started right here, with Durag Niwas. What was once just our home slowly opened up to guests from around the world - travelers who became friends, and friends who became part of our story.
As we grew, so did our dreams.
Durag Niwas is our family home and the beginning of something much bigger.
We created Dev Bagh, a peaceful desert retreat where you can reconnect with nature and quiet moments.
We launched Rajputana Gastronomy, a celebration of Rajasthani food and family recipes.
And through Jodhpur Artisans, Mukta’s vision came to life - supporting women by turning traditional skills into meaningful livelihoods.
Together, these form Rajputana Legacy - a family of small, soulful ventures rooted in hospitality, heritage, and heart.
Every person who visits us, eats with us, or wears something made by our artisans becomes a part of this journey.
We’re so glad you’re here.
Welcome to our world.
